Boys' Ranch (1946)

In the heart of Texas, former baseball player Dan Walker trades in his bat for a cowboy hat, embracing the simple, open life of a rancher with his wife Susan and daughter Mary. His retirement from sports, however, leaves a void in his casual friendship with a band of underprivileged city boys, whom he would often sneak into the ballpark to catch games for free. When two of these boys, Skippy and Hank, face the grim prospect of reform school, Dan's compassion drives him to take them under his wing, relocating them to Texas with the hope of securing ranch jobs. But the transition from city life to the rustic demands of ranching stirs unrest among the locals. Simultaneously, Dan discovers the desperate plight of disadvantaged country boys, yearning for sustenance and stability.
