Plot

In the unassuming town of Keighley, the annual British Hairdressing Championship stirs up more than just hairspray. As the event rolls into town, it brings with it old rivalries, rekindled memories, and a chance of redemption. At the heart of it all is Phil, a once-glorious two-time winner of the championship, now running a humble barbershop with his son, Brian. Across town, Phil's estranged ex-wife Shelly, and her lover Sandra, operate a thriving beauty salon, their paths rarely crossing with Phil's since Shelly's sudden departure a decade ago. As the championship excitement builds, Shelly is silently grappling with the reality of her terminal cancer diagnosis. Enter Ray Roberts, the reigning, underhanded hairdressing champion who taunts Phil, challenging his retreat from the glamour of competitive styling to the simplicity of barbering. Yet, Ray's arrival isn't just personal; he brings with him his daughter Christina, whose childhood memories of Brian begin to resurface, adding another layer of complexity to the unfolding drama. In a whirlwind decision, Brian decides to step into the competitive ring, teaming up with Shelly and Sandra to challenge the pompous Ray. The question remains - will Phil bury the hatchet and join the fray? As Ray resorts to desperate measures to ensure victory, will Christina follow suit? Blow Dry captures the drama, passion, and resilience of its characters, painting a vivid picture of a small town caught in the whirlwind of the British Hairdressing Championship. With each snip and style, secrets unravel, relationships are tested, and the true spirit of competition comes to the forefront.
