Blood on the Arrow (1964)

In the turbulent heart of 1871 Arizona, the echoes of Geronimo's escape to Mexico and the Apache's defiance against reservations reverberate. Among the dissenters, a tribe of Coyotero Apaches refuse to surrender their arms, launching attacks on army patrols and settlements with unyielding fervor. Amidst this turmoil, outlaw Wade Cooper, captured and bound for the nearest fort with an army escort, becomes the sole survivor of a brutal Apache ambush. Wounded and wandering, Wade finds sanctuary by a creek, where he's rescued by Nancy Mailer, a woman whose life is intimately entwined with the frontier's tumultuous rhythm. Nancy ushers Wade into the world of her family's trading post, a small fortress of civilization in the heart of the wilderness, run by her husband Clint and their son Tim. The trading post harbors secrets of its own, as Clint operates a clandestine gold mine, amassing a fortune of $20,000 in gold nuggets. The family conceals Wade, but their precarious sanctuary is disrupted when an army patrol urges them to abandon their home amidst rising Apache threats. Their peaceful world shatters when Apaches raid the trading post, seizing all available rifles and taking young Tim hostage. Clint, desperate to ensure his family's safety, promises the Apaches an arsenal of rifles in exchange for their lives. Striking a tense agreement, the Apaches grant them ten days to deliver the rifles and secure Tim's freedom. In this dire situation, Wade Cooper emerges as an unlikely ally, offering to steal the promised rifles from the army to aid the Mailers in retrieving their son. His price? Clint's hidden gold. With reluctance etched in their hearts, the Mailers agree. Wade reaches out to his old comrades to aid his daring plan, but as they converge on the trading post, it becomes abundantly clear that trust is a scarce commodity in the wild Arizona frontier.
