However, as the affluent Naeem Shaikh breathes his last under the suspicious gaze of the CBI, Numair finds a new sanctuary. He befriends the erudite Urdu Professor, Rajan Mathur Sen Gupta, and his wife Roma, a passionate social activist. He starts living with them and their differently-abled daughter, Surubhi, using their influence to secure a pass to the Independence Day celebrations. As Numair navigates this unfamiliar world, he is repulsed by the harmonious coexistence of Muslims, Hindus, and Sikhs, their participation in each other's religious festivities, and their role in organizing Hindu pilgrimages. He uncovers the paradoxical reality of Hindu and Muslim youth leaders who, despite their public antagonism, are allies behind closed doors, serving the agendas of unscrupulous politicians like Mohanlal Agarwal. As the clock ticks down to August 15, Numair remains unflinching in his path to martyrdom.
