Plot

Unfolding amidst the smoky remnants of the March 12, 1993 Bombay blasts, 'Black Friday' showcases the relentless pursuit of justice by DCP Rakesh Maria. Amid a whirlwind of human rights allegations, Maria's investigation zeroes in on the elusive Bashir Khan, whose chameleon-like adaptability allows him to disappear into the vast landscapes of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and West Bengal before being cornered in Bombay. As the narrative unfolds, Bashir's confession and the ensuing unraveling of his memories unearths a tale of bitter indifference by those sworn to protect. The story offers a stark depiction of the authorities' refusal to act during the desecration of the sacred Babri Masjid and their subsequent failure to safeguard the vulnerable, forcing many to seek refuge elsewhere. In the wake of the blasts, Bombay is a city divided, its communities irreversibly polarized. The plot unearths foreign shadows in the form of Pakistan's alleged involvement in providing training and weapons, and the flight of the prime suspects, Dawood Ibrahim and Mushtaq Memon, to the supposed safety of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Amidst political maneuverings and superficial changes, such as the renaming of Bombay, the plot deepens, revealing a clandestine scheme to take down right-wing politicians, Bal Thackeray and L.K. Advani. 'Black Friday' is a gripping portrayal of a city in turmoil, a police force under scrutiny, and a nation grappling with the aftermath of a devastating terrorist attack.
