Burt Farlander and Verona De Tessant are an unconventional, yet deeply in love couple, in their mid-thirties, eagerly awaiting the birth of their first child. Despite Burt's desire to wed, Verona remains reluctant, questioning the necessity of the institution of marriage. Their shared joy in the impending arrival of their baby is amplified by the prospect of living near Burt's parents, Jerry and Gloria Farlander, who they hope will be enthusiastic grandparents.
