Caught in the throes of a passionate love affair, Rajoo (Rajesh Khanna) and Sheetal (Hema Malini) defy the odds and the disapproval of Rajoo's stern father (Ajit) to unite in a simple temple wedding. Their joy is short-lived when tragedy shatters their world, as Rajoo falls victim to a fatal vehicle accident. Stricken with grief and left with a child to raise, Sheetal finds herself alone in a world that refuses to accept her. Embracing her new reality, Sheetal finds solace in her work as a teacher and in the companionship of a young student, Muni. His father, Ravi (Shammi Kapoor), a widower, shares a similar fate. Drawn together by their shared experiences, they form a deep connection and decide to marry.
