In the throes of political upheaval, Carlos Quintas, a poet of remarkable acclaim and the democratically-elected president of an unnamed South American nation, finds himself ousted by a forceful military coup. Now stationed in London, he stands as the spearhead of an exiled government, tirelessly rallying for international backing. However, Carlos is not just a political figure; he is a man deeply in love. His heart belongs to Kate, his assistant, a woman whose secret keeps their relationship teetering on a precipice of uncertainty. But love isn't his only adversary. An ominous shadow looms over Carlos, cast by a cadre of military generals, who have dispatched a formidable team to London with a chilling mission: kidnap and assassinate.
