Alvin, Simon, and Theodore are happy with their life and their guardian Dave. To help balance family life, Dave has decided to give up songwriting for producing. With the change in daily life, the chipmunks have become very dependent on Dave and a bit jealous of his girlfriend. When Alvin convinces his brothers that Dave is preparing to propose to his girlfriend, the brothers band together to sabotage Dave's plan.
