Aag (1994)

Orphaned at a tender age, Raju and Laxmi share an unbreakable bond. Amidst the trials of life, Raju finds solace in the love of the charming collegian, Parul. However, destiny has other plans as Parul is betrothed to the stern Police Inspector Suryadev Singh. Upon discovering their unsanctioned romance, Suryadev unjustly incarcerates Raju, steering Parul into an unwilling marriage. In the face of adversity, Laxmi orchestrates Raju's escape from the iron clutches of the law. Their journey leads them to a tragic spectacle—the sight of Parul, succumbed to poison in a desperate attempt to escape her forced nuptials. The trauma intensifies when Suryadev, in a savage act of dominance, assaults Laxmi, pushing her into the abyss of mental instability. A fugitive and protector, Raju, now known as Birju, retreats to the obscurity of a rustic village, safeguarding his tormented sister. In this quaint hamlet, the radiant village belle, Bijli, finds herself drawn to Birju, yearning for a marital bond. However, Birju's troubled heart is occupied by his sister's deteriorating sanity and her unexpected pregnancy. Just as Birju begins to believe they are safe in their new haven, he realizes that the specter of his past with the law is far from over, threatening to shatter the peace of their humble refuge.
