A Return to Salem's Lot (1987)

In the heart of the perilous Peruvian jungles, Joe Weber, a seasoned yet morally ambiguous anthropologist, decides to abandon his exotic expeditions to tend to his defiant teenage son, Jeremy. In an attempt to mend their strained relationship, they embark on a journey to Joe's hometown, the eerie New England settlement of Salem's Lot. They plan to inhabit Aunt Clara's dilapidated house, a relic of a bygone era that stands ominously against the town's unsettling tranquillity. However, upon setting foot in the town, they're met with an array of strange occurrences. A sinister evil seems to have ensnared Salem's Lot, its veil of peace marred by fresh stains of bright-red blood. Unbeknownst to the father-son duo, they have inadvertently stumbled upon a community living in the shadow of an unnerving secret - it is populated with vampires. As the horrifying truth unravels, the town's clandestine inhabitants beseech Joe to pen a bible for them, intertwining the anthropologist's and his son's fate with that of the town. With each passing day, it becomes increasingly evident that their return to Salem's Lot was a decision fraught with dread. And with the tendrils of terror tightening around them, they must confront the haunting question - is there any escape from this town of terror?
