Plot

In the wake of an unbroken chain of futile endeavors, Kim Won-kang, a retired professional soccer player, finds himself unexpectedly in East Timor. As fate would have it, he stumbles upon children playing soccer, their feet bare against the rough, stony pitches. Spotting an unexplored business avenue in this poverty-stricken nation devoid of any sporting goods store, he sets into motion a clever plan to sell athletic shoes to these barefooted young players, naïvely hoping for a quick ascension to wealth. However, the harsh reality of the impoverished nation soon shatters his dreams. The steep price tag of $60 for shoes, even under a lenient installment scheme, is beyond the reach of the locals. Before he knows it, Kim finds himself transforming from a businessman to a coach, leading a team of 10-year-old ragtag players. As prospects turn bleak, he discovers himself on a journey far removed from his original plan, engrossed in the raw and passionate world of soccer.
