Plot

In the vibrant epoch of the early 20th century, we journey with Michal, a youthful Polish migrant venturing into the heart of Germany, the cradle of his unfolding story. The film unfolds in a tapestry of six captivating episodes, each a stepping stone in Michal's journey. The first chapter sees him enrolling in a social etiquettes course, attempting to navigate the labyrinth of high society. Yet, his earnest attempts at courting the fairer sex using these newly learnt rules turn into a series of comedic blunders that leave him standing as the fool. Seeking respite, Michal finds employment with a carousel owner, a man with a roving eye for women. As the carousel spins, so does Michal's life, spiraling him into the next sequence of events. A chance encounter introduces him to the enchanting, yet complex Mrs. Luther, his divorced landlady. Through her, Michal plunges into a whirlwind of sensuous experiences, each more intoxicating than the last. Drained from his erotic escapades, Michal escapes the clutches of his landlady, seeking solace and stability in the grueling work of a mine. His evenings are spent in the dimly lit corners of brothels, his view of women now tainted by cynicism. Yet, the constant flux of his life, the incessant wandering, inevitably steers him towards the path of genuine affection. A Bachelor's Life Abroad captures the exhilarating, chaotic, and at times, humorous journey of a man, painting a vivid portrait of his search for love amidst the frenzy of life.
