20th Century Women (2016)

Dorothy Fields is a single mother struggling to get by in 1979 America. She spent the 60's opposed to the war and to notions of capitalist labor, but she's now just trying to instill the right values in her teenage son, Jamie. Fortunately, he has a lot of strong women in his life — but Jamie's issues are severe. He's incapable of verbal communication and struggles to build social relationships with others. The bohemian nature of the household means that getting by is a little harder in some ways, but it also means that they always have each other to rely on.
