2 Countries (2017)

In the charming backdrop of his native town, we find Ullas (Sunil), a shrewd trickster on the brink of his 40s, who navigates life with cunning stunts and deception. Driven by an unquenchable thirst for money and an aversion to risk, Ullas plans to marry Simran, a disabled woman. His world takes a sharp turn when he crosses paths with Laya, a wealthy NRI Telugu woman, who offers him the promise of immigration to the USA and a pathway to easy money. Succumbing to these dazzling prospects, Ullas ties the knot with Laya, only to discover her secret - she's a chronic alcoholic. The revelation of funds stashed in her name, which she can't claim due to her drinking problem, fuels his greed and he learns to tolerate the daily chaos. Unexpectedly, Ullas finds himself entwined in the threads of love with his alcoholic wife, and the responsibilities of a husband push him to stand by her side through thick and thin. Through a twist of fate, Laya learns about Ullas's initial plan, leading to a bitter divorce battle. Ullas, however, uses the situation to his advantage, citing Laya's alcoholism as the reason for the divorce and vowing to help her recover. Laya, under the guidance of a rehab center and Ullas's support, overcomes her addiction. In a poignant turn of events, Ullas returns to his first love, Simran, planning to marry her. But destiny has other plans. Laya, now sober, uncovers the truth about Ullas's sacrifices for her well-being. Amidst unexpected revelations and conflicting emotions, Ullas and Laya find their way back to each other, proving that love often takes the most unexpected routes.
